This year’s Met Ball was dazzled with a star studded guest list, which is keep under the strict eye of Anna Wintour, and guests returned to the more glamorous attire after last year’s world of punk. In my opinion the Met Ball out does any red carpet event, including the Oscars. I always look more forward to this red carpet with the Oscars coming in second. This year was no exception, some of the gowns were breath taking.
The Victoria & Albert Museum have confirmed that they will be hosting Alexander McQueen’s exhibit: Savage Beauty. It is a retrospective exhibition charting the spectrum of McQueen’s career, from his 1992 MA show through to the collection left unfinished at the time of his untimely death – we revisit his fashion life through Vogue.
Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy appeared on Graham Norton’s show to promote the X-Men: Days of Future Past. The three of them danced to Robin thicke’s Blurred Lines on the show and it was probably one of the best moments I’ve seen on Graham Norton’s show. All three men in one room! I don’t know what it is about Blurred Lines that makes everyone want to get up and dance (even though it is derogatory) but these three fine fellas made it look good.
Last night was the launch of Kate Moss’ collection for Topshop in London and it was attended by all the right people, if only I was one of them. The launch was held at the Topshop on Oxford Circus and Kate wore some looks from her collection and later a dinner was held at The Connaught.
Rihanna has recently posed naked for the cover of Frence magazine, Lui, and shot by Mario Sorrenti. If you ask me I think it’s pretty damn hot and lives up to her Badgirl RiRi rep.
It only makes sense for adidas Originals to collaborate with Brazilian brand, The Farm, for the Spring Summer 2014 collection, as the world’s focus will be turning to Brazil this year anticipating the FIFA World Cup! There is more to mangos than one thinks, there are 10 reason why we should eat them, and not because it’s just so delicious!
Although it isn’t Spring in the Southern Hemisphere we can still appreciate this collaboration. Liberty London has teamed up again with Nike to create a collection of sneakers with Liberty’s famous heritage prints. The heritage prints are Anoosha, ’30s print featuring blossom and bell flowers; Lora, a print based on a ’70s version of William Morris’s ‘Willow’ pattern; and Crown, a design based on various paisley block prints from Liberty’s Merton print works in the late 19th to early 20th century. Though they were dug from Liberty’s archives the prints carry a timeless appeal and give the ubiquitous trainers a wonderful spring makeover.
Yes, this is really happening and the news kind of exploded all over the internet, which is exactly what would happen with news like this. It was announced over the weekend at an H&M event at Coachella that Alexander Wang will design the next capsule collection for H&M, which will hit stores 6 November. This is the first time the brand will collaborate with an American designer.
Kate Moss has done another collection for Topshop but this time focusing on detail and fabrication to create more premium items. The model worked within four categories: Balearic, beachy island – inspired designs, Pyjama dressing done mostly with silk satins, Cocktail hour, which offers after dark ready tanks and dresses with beadwork and fringe, and finally Tailoring Noir, suiting and menswear details for Moss-acolytes.
